Afia is a clothing brand started by a San Francisco student, Meghan Sebold, employing Ghanaian textiles, labor and print.
The textiles for the name are sourced from small vendors in Ghana, pieces are hand sewn by the Dzidefo Women’s Cooperative in Kpando, Ghana whilst the clothing pattens are made my individuals in the United States and Ghana. All these practices are supporting fair wage labor, international collaboration and handmade goods. The name ‘Afia’ is taken from the Ashanti name for a female born on Friday, which is also the day Sebold was born!
